Celebrating Pacific Northwest marching bands since 1988.
The festival began on October 22, 1988, as the Cascade Sound Marching Band Championships at Snohomish High School's Veterans Memorial Stadium. Sponsored by the Cascade High School Band Boosters and led by director Jim Johnson, it welcomed 15 bands to one of the first marching band competitions in the Pacific Northwest. After a few years and a couple of name changes, it officially became the Puget Sound Festival of Bands in 1994, and today it calls Everett Memorial Stadium home.
PSFOB is a competition, but it's also a chance to perform. Every band takes the field twice, once in Preliminaries and again in Finals, so students get more time in front of a crowd and more practice with their show ahead of the bigger competitions later in the season.
Every band performs and is scored against the other bands in its division.

Every band performs again, now competing across all divisions. Bands take the field in reverse score order, so the top-scoring band from Preliminaries performs last.

Our judges are selected for their experience and integrity, and come from the local, regional, and national marching arts community. Every band receives recorded commentary from both Preliminaries and Finals, meant to be constructive and to help students keep growing through the rest of their season.
